The Trend Panel: MAs, ADX, and Linear Regression
Read the platform's Trend panel from top to bottom and learn what every row means in practice
The Trend panel is the single most important block on the Technicals page. It tells you not just whether a stock is up or down, but how strong the move is. Master this panel and you have built the regime filter that every other signal in this module sits on top of.
Trend has two dimensions: direction (up, down, flat) and strength (powerful, weak, none). Moving averages tell you direction. ADX tells you strength.
Linear regression tells you how clean or noisy the move is. The Trend panel collapses all three into one card so you do not have to estimate any of them by eye. A Simple Moving Average (SMA) weights all bars equally — slow to react, ignores recent acceleration.
An Exponential Moving Average (EMA)} weights recent bars more heavily — faster, but also more whipsaw-prone. SMA(200) is the structural-trend filter every professional uses.
That is the opening. Finishing a lesson is where it stops being interesting and starts being useful: the full lesson runs to 6 sections and ends with 4 practice questions. A free account is what opens the rest, and the other 255 lessons in the Academy with it. No card.
